Tulungagung, Kewajiban seorang muslim kepada sesama umat islam yang telah meninggal adalah merawat jenazahnya. Cara merawat jenazah yang disyari’atkan Islam diantaranya adalah memandikan, mengkafani, mensholati dan kemudian menguburkan. Namun karena hukumnya Fardu Kifayah menjadikan sebagian orang tidak serta merta mempelajari dan memahaminya dengan benar, bahkan sedikit sekali yang mampu melakukannya secara benar sesuai syariat. Fardu Kifayah adalah sesuatu yang wajib dilakukan, namun apabila ada sebagian orang melakukan maka menggugurkan kewajiban muslim yang lain, tetapi jika sama sekali tidak ada maka semua mendapat dosa. Dari fenomena yang ada dimasyarakat inilah yang membuat Jurusan Syariah STAIN Tulungagung merasa perlunya mengadakan “Pelatihan Perawatan Jenazah,”.

Untuk meningkatkan kualitas keilmuan civitas akademika STAIN Tulungagung, Jurusan Syariah melaksanakan Diskusi Reguler. Diskusi yang diikuti oleh Dosen dan Karyawan in dilaksanakan setiap bulan. Pada hari Rabu, tanggal 27 Februari 2013 dilaksanakan Diskusi di Jurusan Syariah dengan mengambil tema "Pergulatan Politik Identitas dalam Hisab Rukyat di Indonesia". Tema ini disampaikan oleh Dosen Syariah Ahmad Musonnif, M.HI.
Di awal penyampaian makalahnya, Dosen yang dikenal dengan pakar Falak STAIN Tulungagung menyampaikan latar belakang mengenai tema diskusi kali ini. Menurutnya, secara historis Islam mengambil identitas yang berbeda dengan agama lainnya seperti Yahudi. Beliau mencontohkan saat Nabi akan melaksanakan Puasa Asyura tanggal 10 Muharram, oleh Sahabat dikritik karena sama dengan Yahudi. Maka dari itu, Nabi menambahkan Puasa tanggal 9 Muharram agar tidak sama dengan agama Yahudi. Begitu juga di Indonesia,
